Why do other states have to buy textbooks from Texas?

That is terrible if true considering what they are doing. I cannot understand why textbooks for the entire country are written and/or published in Texas ? ? It cant be because of cost. I can understand some small states may not have resources but California and New York, for example, should publish their own books. Why do other states have to buy textbooks from Texas?
They don't actually... California and New York are powerful forces in the education field. Most of the time, they both have their own versions of textbooks . In fact, California has said that any changes in textbooks made from the decisions in Texas will NOT be in the textbooks of California.

The other states -- they're not as lucky....

The companies just make the same book without "Texas Edition" stamped on the front for those states. Why do other states have to buy textbooks from Texas?
its because texas is the biggest buyer of the textbooks so the companies want texas to buy the books to get money so whatever Texas wants in the textbooks they get. But since its in the news and all, i doubt the books companies would be stupid enough to allow the changes now.Why do other states have to buy textbooks from Texas?
Not sure if this would help but just visit http://www.bigwords.com and you can purchase or rent any book from them. They'll even save you money because they search all the online textbook retailers and rental sites to find you the best deal. It's pretty cool stuff.
