Is 90 pages of college textbooks too much to read in one week?

My unconventional college assigns students approximately 90 pages from the textbooks each week .I try to read it all, but end up skimming when it is crunch time. Do you think it is too much? If not, what reading strategies do you recommend. Is 90 pages of college textbooks too much to read in one week?
I recommend a speed reading course. It worked for me. Then you'll be able to handle 90 pages A DAY in more conventional graduate programs.
That's on the average side. For science, it's usually a bit less because it's denser. For English or philosophy-type classes, that's on the low side.Is 90 pages of college textbooks too much to read in one week?
It depends on the subject matter. If you were talking about 90 pages full of mathematical equations, it might be too much, but for history or English, it is pretty light. You could read 10 pages a night and 20 on weekend days, or if you don't like studying on weekends, you could read 20 pages Monday-Thursday and 10 on Friday. Is 90 pages of college textbooks too much to read in one week?
That's pretty average. I mean, I have English novels, Nursing textbooks I have to read, and they all surpass the 100+page mark per week. It's just a matter of finding the time to focus and read, however that said, during my pre-Nursing years, I was in Science and I found it really hard to read every single page for my 5 classes per semester, so I had to skim and read the chapter summaries instead.
90 pages is to much to read in a month
I think 90 pages would be average for a week and at your level of education. Im in grade 9 and I have to read 50 pages for tomorrow in english. Hope this helps!
90 pages a week is not that much
I had to read a heck of a lot more in college.
no, not at all
easy read 30 pages a day.

it'll only take like 2 hours of your 24 hour day
To be totally honest 90 pages is not a lot. I'm in AP classes (I'm in high school still) and I sometimes read more than that in a week.

But regardless of the specific amount you have to read, I've heard from someone whose parent is a Professor that many college professors don't necessarily expect you to read everything that's assigned. Sometimes its about picking and choosing, figuring out how to skim it and develop study habits that work for you while not necessarily sitting down and reading word for word the entire thing. However, with 90 pages, I should expect that you should be able to read most or all of it. Unless you have other factors in your life that keep you busy (ie: a job) there really isn't a reason you shouldn't be able to finish the reading. There's not much specific advice I could give you on finishing your reading because everyone has different ways of learning/studying. But basically, just try and get through it as best you can.
90 pages is absolutely not a lot to read in college. How is that unconventional?
It is not unreasonable to have to read that much in college. Skimming works for the reading before the lecture, then go back and study it more thoroughly later for the test. To skim, look at subheadings, bolded words, sidebars with extra information, the first and last sentences in paragraphs or sections. That will give you a good overview when you are overloaded or rushed. Just remember to go back later for the details!
