How can I get money from old edition textbooks?

I know where to go to sell current textbooks, but I just want to unload my old ones.

I know all about ebay and amazon.

I guess I am looking for some kind of thing I don't have to pay for using...like some kind of charity or donation place that would make it worth my while on taxes.

Or, some website where people want my old things that I do not loose money on.How can I get money from old edition textbooks?
You may be able to donate to a library and maybe they can write a receipt as well as the good will and there are also some charities that request used textbooks but for those I would google. You might aslo want to try the yahoo group called freecycle. Its a group pent on recycling things but you cannot charge and/or trade...you would be giving it away.

ADD: Community libraries normally accept all donations so long as the book is in good condition...I should know, that is where I send ALL of my editions that I cannot sell back
I would suggest using GreenTextbooks.org

Save Money, Save The Planet

GreenTextbooks.org specializes in the recycling of textbooks, DVDs, CDs. Buying used textbooks not only saves you money, http://www.GreenTextbooks.org

You can donate them to book organizations, but remember you can only claim fair market value for tax deductable purposes. Non-current editions typically have low value. Very old editions likely have zero value at all.

Community libraries typically will not accept textbooks, and academic libaries do not want old editions, so don't even waste time going down that route.

In end the, the right thing to do with a really old textbook is to have it placed into a paper recycling bin.
Wow.
