Are only students allowed to use the University bookstores and purchase textbooks?

Can a member of the public (John Q himself or Jane Q herself) purchase textbooks directly from a University bookstore or must you be an enrolled student? Are only students allowed to use the University bookstores and purchase textbooks?
I've never had a university ask me for proof that I was a student or enrolled in that course. As far as I know, anyone is welcome to buy textbooks. They'll only be making more money - how could they complain?
You should buy used college textbooks at GreenTextbooks.com - Saving the Planet One Textbook at a Time GreenTextbooks.com is your online leader for finding used textbooks, DVDs, CDs. http://www.GreenTextbooks.com

No , I routinely go to several colleges and the University bookstores and they never ask , but then again they have seen me and known me for several years for they often order books for me .

I don't think you have to prove that you go to the university in order to shop at their bookstores. Usually tourists can go there and buy little souvenirs there as well. like keychains and sweaters.
