Are films more effective in capturing the interest of students and more encouraging to learn than textbooks?

Are films more effective in capturing the interest of students and more encouraging to learn than textbooks?

I am writing a french essay and I am interested in peoples' opinions.

As a student myself, especially in lessons such as history, when watching a film based on the historical event, we all became more interested in the subject. Do you think films can really benefit a child's education? Thank you for your time :)Are films more effective in capturing the interest of students and more encouraging to learn than textbooks?
Films are like cake and cookies.

They are fun and everyone would rather eat them than cooked vegetables.

However, in the long run, they do not satisfy all your needs and should not be your main diet.

As a child, you see everything as either difficult or fun. Movies are fun. Reading is hard.

Textbooks give you the author's facts while movies give you a bright and colorful story.

Which would you prefer? Which is more helpful in life?
