Is it safe to buy used college textbooks off of ebay?

Does anyone have any personal experience with this? I can go to stores near my college and buy used books but those prices are still really high, actually they're close to the new price. So is it worth it to buy off of ebay? Do college students generally take good care of their textbooks? I feel like that last question's answer is a no.Is it safe to buy used college textbooks off of ebay?
Ask for photos and a written guarantee that they are not missing any pages and are the edition you need. This way PayPal will back you up if it's not and you'll get your money back. Email the seller and tell them straight out that's what the terms are.

I never much cared about condition as long as it was all there. Money was my main concern.
I would suggest buying your textbooks at GreenTextbooks.com - Saving the Planet One Textbook at a Time GreenTextbooks.com is your online leader for finding used textbooks, DVDs, CDs. With GreenTextbooks.com you're not only saving trees, you are saving some green. http://www.GreenTextbooks.com

I think that most college students do take care of their books b/c they know what they're worth if they do. You can sell back the books later, but they have to be in a pretty good condition or the worth of it decreases. That said, the books might still have a little highlighting in them and stuff like that. eBay should be fine as long as you pick your sellers carefully and use Paypal, but have you ever considered renting your textbooks? Places like Chegg.com allow you to rent your textbooks for the semester (with an option to buy later if you want) then you mail it back to them. The prices are really good too. I haven't tried it yet, but I'm thinking of doing so this semester. Is it safe to buy used college textbooks off of ebay?
I've bought a LOT of textbooks on Ebay, and have been very happy with the results. Just avoid scams (anyone asking to be paid in cash) - stick with PayPal purchases.

Do college students take good care of their textbooks? Generally, no... but would you rather spend $150 on a new text or $30 on one that's highlighted and dogeared? You can buy yourself a lot of cookies for $120 to make up for your disappointment at having to use a used textbook :-)
Yeah.
