Is it a good idea to buy my college textbooks from amazon because of the cheap prices?

This is my first year of college and i was really surprised at the prices of the textbooks. i've been to a few bookstores, but they are all expensive. i checked amazon and teh books i was looking for were at an amazing low price. i have never bought anything from amazon. so is it a good idea?Is it a good idea to buy my college textbooks from amazon because of the cheap prices?
Don't worry.I bought all my textbooks from Amazon every year, because they often offer books at discount price and it is a very well-known and trustworthy online store. I've got some used books at a cheaper price, together with new books. You may want to look for them early or there will be less and less choice for used books there:

Yes, I've purchase quite a few of my textbooks online--directly from Amazon and from private sellers. Amazon offers free shipping on a lot of their products, so that's a saver right there. I've purchased from private sellers, and they have all followed through. Be sure to look at their ratings and how many people have rated them. That'll give you an idea if they accurately describe the product that they're selling and if they ship out quickly.

The only complaint I've had was when a book that I had ordered came in the mail with the first chapter completely ripped off and a "Sorry for the inconvenience" note from the USPS stuck to the bandaged packaging. I know that the seller didn't ship it that way, but I think the damage occurred because it wasn't packaged properly. Is it a good idea to buy my college textbooks from amazon because of the cheap prices?
Amazon is only one of many places to get your books. I use http://www.bigwords.com They are a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers (including amazon, half, ebay etc) and rental sites (including chegg, bookrenter etc) to find you the best prices. You can even use them at the end of the semester to search for resellers to sell your books to.
ABEbooks.com is way better than amazon.com. You should ask the professor first if you can purchase an earlier edition of the textbook. I never had a problem and I saved tons of money. I would pay like $0.99 and everyone else would pay over $100.00. I'm not even exaggerating. Sometimes when an author of a textbook updates an edition, they might just switch around some chapters and add an article or something, they are not much different at all. I would just compare the book to the correct edition so if other students are reading chapter 11 you are reading chapter 2, or something. The authors won't even change much of the info. They wrote the book to make money and will not spend too much time rewriting their book. I did this and I got all As throughtout all my education, even in my Master's program. Good luck.
Yes! I have bought many of my textbooks on Amazon. Always pay through Paypal though because if you have any problems with the seller, Paypal will help you dispute and eventually get your money back if need be. I'm a senior now on my last semester and I've never run into any problems with any of the seller's on Amazon. Ebay has some more unreliable sellers but Amazon is definitely more reliable.
Yes, just make sure that you are getting the correct version of the book. Most textbooks release new editions each year so that the University has to buy new batches each year.

A lot of time if you are getting an incredible deal on a textbook it is last year's edition.
DON'T BUY YOUR TEXTBOOKS! You can rent them!

Go to Chegg.com.

They will save you 65% to 85% off your college bookstore!

Use code CC101125 to save even more money. Keep in mind that the prices are lower before the semester starts.

Please share this with any friends that your know that are in college. It will help a lot!
Yes! Amazon, ebay, and textbooksrus are some good choices. I bought many of my books from ebay but had one bad experience which was never resolved because ebay was not helpful AT ALL.

I never had a problem with Amazon and textbooksrus though.
Absolutely. Half.com is also really good too. I would recommend buying from sellers that have a lot of positive ratings. A lot of people have textbook warehouses. I had a little bit of a problem with one of the books I ordered but the seller resolved it and I got my money back so it was ok. The only problem is it can take some time to ship so you will have to do it early.
if you get financial aid i would suggest buying them with that at the school book store.. my second suggestion would be to look around the campus for people posting flyers about selling their old books then if that dont work i would go to the amazon choice
Yepp, I bought mine on B%26amp;N, or maybe it was Amazon, it's been a few years. Wherever you can get them cheaper is the best thing to do. Try local bulletin boards for used ones, they are cheaper too.
I bought all my books from http://www.thecollegebookbag.com they were the cheapest I could find and I did not need one book, they gave me a full refund.
Yes. I bought books from amazon and other online retailers all four years of college. As long as you're sure that it's the right book and the correct edition you'll be fine.
You should rent your text books. I use chegg.com. Its usually at least half the list price. They also ship fast. Save an extra 5% right now with this code: CC101135 .
Sure is. I purchased lots of things from Amazon and never had a problem with them. I prefer them over Ebay most times.
Of Course Mark,

But work Fast, you will need your books like ASAP. When I can I also order from Amazon.
absolutely!!! It's always best and cheap to get used books. I always did and saved a lot of money
nooooo
if they are the correct edition, hells yes.
