What eBook reader is recommended for renting college textbooks?

I'll be entering college next month and I've been hearing it's more affordable to get your textbooks electronically rather than getting the physical books themselves. From the Nook, iPad, Kindle, or whatever other eBook readers there are, what would you recommend the most?|||Hi, Meg Ryan, neither Nook nor Kindle handles eTextbooks well however Barnes and Noble has something for a regular PC or MAC including a laptop or a desktop. An eTextbook is a digital, downloadable, version of a physical textbook. It can be read on your PC and Mac with B%26amp;N's free NOOKstudy application. An eTextbook will look exactly like the physical version so you will see the same graphs, charts, drawings etc. The best part is that you can read your eTextbook anywhere that you bring your computer without needing the internet! And, you have the option to purchase or rent it depending on your needs.

In terms of Nook vs. Kindle for everything else, current e-Ink Nook is much better than current e-ink Kindle as Nook has the latest generation touch screen display, no page turn lag, it weights less, and its battery lasts twice as long, and it doesn't blink on each page turn. Having that out of the way, you should then decide which screen you want: e-Ink or LCD. It depends on what you're reading. If just black %26amp; white novels then the better one would be e-Ink Nook from Barnes %26amp; Noble. If you read electronic magazines or college text books with a lot of color graphs and charts or children鈥檚' books with a lot of pictures then the better would be Nook Color LCD from Barnes %26amp; Noble. Whichever device you choose, here's the advantages of the Nook鈥檚 (both e-Ink black %26amp; white and Nook Color) over Kindle:

- Any Barnes %26amp; Noble store provides free Wi-Fi to Nook's and when you walk in with the Nook to B%26amp;N store, you鈥檙e allowed to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.

- Nook allows to lend Nook books for two weeks to friends and family or share with your other devices that run B%26amp;N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone, iPod and iPad, etc.)

- Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.

Kindle only supports eBooks in its proprietary AZW format. Nook, on the other hand, supports both DRM-protected and DRM-free ebooks in ePub format thus it supports ebooks from B%26amp;N store, from any other DRM-free source on the web, and from public libraries.|||I would totally go with a Kindle. Amazon just launched their college textbook rental service.

Amazon has the best selection and features in my opinion.. and is growing faster than anyone else in the ebook market.

You can compare the different kindle models and get a good deal on a kindle 3 here:

http://www.syncpedia.com/goto/kindle_sto鈥?/a>

I would totally recommend a 3g kindle. You can get one for just $30 more these days then the basic wifi model, and it allows you to use the web browser free anywhere vs just wifi hotspots.

I use mine to read blogs/news/facebook/email etc.

I purchased the 3g kindle before the special offer version was released but if I was doing it again I would opt for this one:

http://www.syncpedia.com/goto/kindle_3g_鈥?/a>

That model gives you the full 3g kindle for less, since it has minor ads in non critical areas.

From what I understand the ads are easy to ignore though since they are not on any main content.

Anyways good luck!|||PLEASE do NOT go this route. People think they are so smart and cost effective doing this. PROFS WILL NOT allow them during open book tests and many HATE electronics in their classes. I've seen it happen and it WILL happen. I had to get special permission through my major's dept to take notes on my iPod touch. Swallow your pride and fork out the cash for a book. You can rent a book from book stores and sites now.|||Kindle by far!|||A laptop combined with software ereader applications may work out best overall if you'll be wanting to use your new device for writing notes and papers. See "Smartphone vs Ereader vs Tablet vs Laptop"

http://www.howtodecide.com/portable-comp鈥?/a>

If you're set on getting an ereader, it'd be prudent to wait until you know your book requirements as there is no clear consensus regarding which ereaders are better for college right now. Those who force the decision too early often end up with the best ereader for PDF http://www.howtodecide.com/ereader/#~tf.鈥?/a> to be safe, yet PDFs are non-ideal for ereaders. I'd wait to see what books I need if I were you before deciding which ereader to buy.

Some general ereader advice apart from textbook availability...

Kindle 3:

Pros:

+ E Ink display is great for long-run reading -- like reading from a book.

+ E Ink Pearl display provides 50% better contrast than E Ink Vizplex found in regular Nook.

+ 4G internal memory

Cons:

- web browsing, apps, and games are much worse than with a Nook Color.

- no SD expansion

Nook Touch: Same pros and cons as Kindle, plus:

Pros:

+ touch screen

+ EPUB/library support now; Kindles updated later this year

+ SD expansion

Cons:

- no 3G

- 2G internal memory

Kobo Touch: Same pros and cons as Nook Touch, plus:

Pros:

+ international bookstore

Cons:

- only 1G internal memory

- Partnership with out-of-business Borders

Sony Readers: Same pros and cons as Nook Touch, plus:

Pros:

+ better PDF support

Cons:

- expensive

- no wireless except on most expensive model (PRS-950)

- largest screen 7" (compared to 9.7" on Kindle DX)

Nook Color:

Pros:

+ better web browsing, apps, and games

Cons:

- long-run reading experience is poor compared to E Ink readers -- like reading from a computer monitor

iPad:

Pros:

+ best browsing, apps, and games

+ best PDF viewing

Cons:

- expensive

- heavy

- long-run reading experience is poor compared to E Ink readers -- like reading from a computer monitor

Nook First Edition:

Pros: None, unless you catch a great close-out sale or like the gimmicky mini color LCD panel used to show book covers

Cons:

- E Ink Vizplex display is older technology than E Ink Pearl found on Kindle 3s

- Web browsing, apps, and games are worse than Nook Color and Kindle 3

What are some good places to buy used textbooks online?

I want to save money this coming semester, and I am curious to know what good online places have good deals on textbooks.|||Hi Brittany H,

CourseSmart is probably your best bet. Check out the link below for more info. you'll see the link on the right side of the page.

Hope this helps.|||*Amazon- pretty decent.

*Half.com (It's the textbook section of ebay....highly recommend but fyi, give a few weeks for shipping.)

What is a good legit website that will buy back your textbooks?

Does anyone know of any good legit websites where you can sell your college textbooks or, more preferably, have the website just automatically buy back your textbook (for more than what it would cost for you to just ship it!). Any good useful advice or links is appreciated. Also, I know I can sell it back to the college bookstore I bought it from, but I am looking for other options. Thanks!|||Try using http://www.bigwords.com They are a textbook search engine that searches all the online retailers (including those already mentioned here) and rental sites to find you the best prices. How many textbooks do you need per college basic?

I'll be a freshman in the fall and I just bought my school bag. I'm trying to decide if it will be big enough for everything. So I just want to know how big are textbooks and about how many per class?|||You typically have 1 textbook per class, but you usually don't need to bring the book. Some classes may have 3 or 4 smaller books that you read throughout the semester instead of a textbook. Some classes also have workbooks, which are usually pretty thing (maybe 50 pages). The size can range anywhere from a 200 page novel to a 1200 page hardcover textbook.

I've only had 1 professor in 3 weeks that required I bring my textbook to class every day. Plus, you won't have the same classes every day, so it's unlikely you will need 5 textbooks at once.|||Every class will vary in terms of the number and size of textbooks. If you can't fit them in your bag, you can leave them in your dorm room and pick them up between classes. If you commute, then leave them in your car.

I thought textbooks were tax deductible, however the TaxCut proam says that it is not. What to do?

This is what the TaxCut Software says:

In addition, these expenses are not considered qualifying tuition expenses:

Amounts paid for books, supplies, equipment, or nonacademic activities, except for fees required to be paid to the school as a condition of enrollment

This is straight from the software. Is there somewhere else I should be deducting textbooks? Those things are expensive, and would love to deduct them!|||Textbooks are NOT deductable.

From publication 970:

Example 2.

Donna and Charles, both first-year students at College W, are required to have certain books and other reading materials to use in their mandatory first-year classes. The college has no policy about how students should obtain these materials, but any student who purchases them from College W's bookstore will receive a bill directly from the college. Charles bought his books from a friend, so what he paid for them is not a qualified education expense. Donna bought hers at College W's bookstore. Although Donna paid College W directly for her first-year books and materials, her payment is not a qualified expense because the books and materials are not required to be purchased from College W for enrollment or attendance at the institution.|||I would buy used at GreenTextbooks.com - Saving the Planet One Textbook at a Time

I have a HUGEEEE stack of textbooks, and they just keep piling up every semester and then I never touch them again. I know selling them back to your college bookstore gets you absolutely minimal money back, but should I just bite the bullet and sell them for something. You'll find both of those kinds of sites on that article.|||John Doe,you might want to think about selling ALL of your college textbooks

Here's some reasons why I wouldn't sell them all

- If I ever had a subject I struggled in,I would keep the textbooks that has all the methods of it.

- Keep and study college textbooks, sure I would forget some formulas, methods, and all that stuff. Then

there goes that one annoying test that might affect my whole grade! Sigh...Better open up these huge

and dusty books again to study all day long.Hopefully,I'll pass the test tomorrow with a 100% or a

huge A+

________

So Technically,I wouldn't sell my college textbooks or any other textbooks...Who knows -

One day you grow up to be as old as 70 years old.Sitting on a cushion chair or rocking chair

with a fireplace in front of you,too scared and cold to be wandering outside because it's winter.

So,you stare at the bookshelves and look at those humongous, dusty stacks of books. You decide

to grab one of them. You grab the math textbook your teacher in elementary school 4th grade gave you.You open to page 10 and find a Post-It note that says '' C + D '' and another Post-It note on

page 116 that says '' I hate Matthew! '' and remember the good times you had in your life with your

allies and enemies.

Also Im sure some classes switch up versions of books at times, so if you can not get rid of them any other way your last resort should be your college book store.|||You can sell them on Amazon and got about 30% more, on average, than by selling them back to the bookstore. You can then determine which merchant you want to buy from and you are taken directly to that merchants website. The service is completely free.

Now to determine which merchant is a bit more difficult. Sites such as Amazon and Half are marketplace websites which means you are buying from another seller and just using that site to complete the transaction. Typically on a marketplace site the return policy is limited to the condition of the book or misrepresentation.

If you think you may drop the course then you may want to look at a site such as Textbooks.com or TextbooksNow.com who sell inventory they stock. The return policy is a bit more liberal.|||I would suggest GreenTextbooks.org

But for now, this will work for us.|||We started home schooling in the 8th grade and our approach was much like your approach. We have found many text books at the Goodwill Store and Salvation Army store. The only drawback to these is that they do not come with the teacher's book with answers and ideas. We have found that we can do search online for topics in the book and find more sources and updated information from the Internet.

Check with your local home school support group and see if they have a used book sale.

EBay does have text books. They have a rule that they cannot sell the teacher's books. They have a fear that public school students would get one in their hands and cheat. (I work in the public school and copying papers on lunch break is a big part of the 20 minute lunch break.) Ebay users have found a way to get around the rule so look for notes on the ads that tell about 'other books of interest'. This will be the teacher's books or solution/answer books.

Also, many of the bigger publishing companies have websites with much of their text from the books online. Some have interactives for various subjects.

Technology has made home schooling easier than it was 10 years ago.

Best of luck to you.|||Great info I would also suggest using GreenTextbooks.com

What is the best eReader for college textbooks?

I am looking to get an eReader for my college textbooks. Mainly because the hard copies are expensive and just a pain to carry around all the time. I am debating between the Kindle 3 and the Nook. Any suggestions or thoughts would be great?|||Hi, Dexter Horst, Nook (or better Nook Color) would be the best for you.

Kindle 3 is lighter and has a better screen and battery than Kindle 2. It's not a touchscreen, it's still e-Ink black %26amp; white screen. You should understand the limitations of e-Ink eReaders - they are limited to be black %26amp; white for now they "blink" at each ebook鈥檚 page turn, they're not too good for web browsing, they need external light source for reading when dark, and they cannot handle videos.

There's also similar Nook eReader devices available from Barnes %26amp; Noble that have a lot of advantages over Kindles such as:

1. Nook allows to lend books for 2 weeks to friends or to your other devices that run B%26amp;N app (PC, MAC, Android phones, Apple iPhone and iPad, etc.) Barnes %26amp; Noble allows (when you walk in with the Nook to B%26amp;N store) to read any available eBook for free while in the store via free provided in the store Wi-Fi. With Nook, while in BN store you get exclusive articles from top authors, and great offers including cafe treats and unique deals.

2. Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for library ebooks.

3. Nook (unlike Kindle) can be used for renting text-ebooks.

There's over a million of free public ebooks as well as over a million of ebooks that you need to pay for available through Barnes %26amp; Noble eBook store. Prices are generally much lower than for physical books.

If you're willing to spend a bit more, you could get Nook Color from Barnes %26amp; Noble which is a hybrid Android device, much more than just an e-Reader but not a full tablet as it doesn't have a camera (but iPad also doesn鈥檛 have one.) Even though Nook Color has LCD touchscreen, it's a new generation screen which is anti-glare coated and is better performing in sunlight and produces less glare all of which are dooming reading on iPad. Also, the screen is amazing and readable/viewable at wide angles.

Nook Color has several apps that already come with the device (Pandora Internet radio, QuickOffice, etc.) Also, Barnes %26amp; Noble recently released Nook SDK and Nook Developer platform that will allow most of the existing 100,000 Android apps be ported to it. You can use the Social Settings screen to link your NOOKcolor to your Facebook account and your Twitter account. You can also import all your contacts from your Google Gmail account. Once you have linked to Facebook and Twitter and set up email contacts, you can lend and borrow books, recommend books, and share favorite quotes with your friends.

If all you want is to read novels, Kindle (or the original e-Ink Nook) might be better for you. If you want something more from your device (color graphs and charts of college text books, childrens books, photos and videos, web sites in full color) at half of the price of iPad or Galaxy tab, then Nook Color is your best bet.|||In short, I won't choose iPad or Nook Color, because they're using backlight screen like computer screen, and is difficult to our eyes. Just not suitable for reading purpose. For other ebook readers including the B%26amp;N Nook, Sony Reader, and Amazon Kindle, I'll go for the Kindle. For the Sony Reader, many books (especially new releases) cannot be easily find on it. For the Nook, it is good but it is slower and less user friendly compared to the new version of Kindle.

There is also quite a good comparison between the ebook readers here:

http://bit.ly/whichebookreader|||I don't really think either is economical right now. I'm in college right now and a LOT of my college textbooks are not really available on e-readers. Plus, if you're going to a research-intensive university (ie. Ohio State University, any University of California schools, etc.), the department of that course might write the textbook themselves (in these cases, you legit HAVE TO go to the university's book store).

You're better off being like the rest of us: sucking it up and buying the hard copies.|||My daughter is starting college in the fall and I am thinking about getting her an I-Pad. The I-Pad can use both the Kindle and Nook books. The second choice would be the Kindle.

I think it is a great idea to have an e-reader.

Check out the article below for other views.|||I would say the Kindle 3 is the screen is great to read on and does not hurt my eyes.

Are there enough downloadable textbooks to make it worth buying a Kindle?

My primary purpose for a kindle would probably be to read textbooks. The "experimental" features didnt work well and the screen froze regularly until one day it decided never to come on again. If you get one, its protected under a warranty but I got insurance just in case. If anything, I'd suggest getting another device (like a tablet) and using a kindle app so you have many more features minus the kindle glitches.

P.S. Kindle versions are very expensive. Now that I got my refund for my kindle, I buy used books for little to nothing. Plus, with a free Amazon Student Prime account, you get free 2day shipping to use on your used book orders.

Look up your textbooks in the Amazon Kindle store. Idk which books you use, so I wouldnt be able to say. On the bright side, you could scan them in as a PDF for your kindle or find PDF versions or something.|||A laptop combined with software ereader applications may work out best overall if you'll be wanting to use your new device for writing notes and papers.

Those who force the decision too early often end up with the best ereader for PDF to be safe, yet PDFs are non-ideal for ereaders. I'd wait to see what books I need if I were you.|||The kindle will handle several formats of e-books, though you may have to transfer anything not bought from Amazon via the USB cable.

What is the cheapest, most efficient way to ship textbooks?

I want to sell some books online, and a few of them are textbooks I don't need anymore. But when I check shipping prices online its really expensive, almost not even worth selling the books in the first place if the shipping is going to cost that much. However, I've bought textbooks online before from other people who evidently had no problem shipping them to me for a reasonable price. So how are people shipping books these days??|||The way I ship, which is cheapest, is I put the book in a cushioned mailing large envelope from staples or any small box and then I ship using US mail only. Go in person to the post office to mail it and ask for the book rate. Only cost me about 2-4 dollars to ship a textbook.|||Campus Books is a website which you can find the best deals on used and new books:

What is the best way to purchase college textbooks?

I am tired of spending 300-600 dollars a semester buying textbooks. Is there a reliable website I can go to that can help me with avalibility and reasonable price for college textbooks?|||If you have a good network of friends, then the cheapest way would be to loan/borrow textbooks amongst each other. Hopefully someone you know took the course previously and still has the book for you to borrow. Or, several people buy the book in group and you work out some sharing arrangement for that term.

Take a look at your school's library, or easily reached libraries (like inter-library loans). Often a copy or two of the textbook may be available to borrow. But be quick about it, as it'll usually be snapped up quickly by someone else in your class...

Even the campus bookstore's used books may not be cheap, but they are an alternative.

Others have already mentioned going through amazon.com (particularly the Marketplace area where people sell their used books) as a good choice. Just be sure that you are getting the edition that you want. Or check with your professor to see if you'll be missing anything if you use one edition back, as that may be cheaper still.

I know for my college, we have this store called "PJ's Books" and i have no idea where this guy gets his stock, but he sells ALL of the books that students need for anything. Like a $100 govt book costs about $35 from this guy- you should check to see if there is a place like that around your college.|||sell yours on amazon after the semesters over too. ive been buying my books and selling them back on amazon after the semester and for about 2 semesters now i've pretty much broken even.|||www.bigwords.com compares college textbooks and you get the lowest price for buying them. I read in the newspaper the other day that professors should let students comparison shop. I got tired of spending $400-$600 for books. So here is what you do:if you need a a tenth edition book, check in bookstores or online at amazon.com or ebay.com to see if there is adifference between the old book and new book, because honestly the only difference between a tenth edition and ninth edition(for example) is perhaps a different cover. Secondly, if you have the ISBN number on the back of your textbook, using that when you order online or call it in, enable you to zero in on the exact edition that you will be using that semester. Just remember that you don't have to shop at your college's bookstore. Try online methods, or other bargain stores to get for cheap. One girl ordered a book that was only six dollars! Why do I find some textbooks for very cheap?

I've been looking at textbook on Amazon and sometimes I find used textbook at a very cheap price. Sometimes it seems like too good of a deal (85% off)

The textbooks are not sold by Amazon.

I was wondering if there's a catch to those cheap textbooks. Can they be fake copies, illegal in any way, false information, bunch of typos, and etc?|||No, but you have to make sure its the right edition. I used to buy them on Amazon all the time because the textbook store on campus are way too expensive. You are risking that the person might not send it out on time or not send it out at all. Just make sure the seller has a good score and ask questions if you need to, and order early before the quarter/semester starts.|||I'm a college student and I buy all my books from Amazon. Sometimes they'll sell them on Amazon for 20-50$ where as if I buy them at my college's book store they'll range from 100-200$ each.

Amazon is Walmart's biggest competition. As such they are competing on who can have the lowest prices on everything.

The books are the same. However I have accidently ordered the wrong version of a book before. You need to be specific in your order. Also you need to be specific when ordering if you want a new copy or a used. The price of is typically the used version. if you request a new version the price is often higher, but not significantly.|||Sometimes people have spent a lot of money on textbooks and want to get a little of it back. Therefore they sell them through Amazon. College bookstores don't pay much for used textbooks, but they charge a lot when they sell them.

Today one of my friends bought a new textbook on Amazon. It was about $25 less than what the college bookstore was charging.

I think that the textbooks are legitimate. You should, however, read carefully to be sure that it is the correct edition.|||Check out multiple sources (e.g., college bookstore, private bookstores, online deals, rentals, eBook, other students) and compare to get the best price. Check out the free price comparison websites. Use caution in selecting a reputable seller.

How can I enjoy reading non fiction textbooks, despite being an avid reader for fiction?

I love reading, but predominantly books I read are fiction-based. I don't really hold interest in non fiction textbooks, but I wish I did so I can expand on my knowledge and increase my scores on exams. So how can I learn to enjoy reading textbooks like physics? Thanks!|||Non-fiction textbooks won't be as enjoyable as fiction; it's just true. There isn't so much of a cure for it as a way to cope with it. So you have to get yourself to sit down in a place where you won't be distracted. For me, it means leaving my laptop behind and heading to my college's food court or library. If you own the book take a pen and underline %26amp; jot notes in the margins. If not, you can use pencil, take a notebook and jot a few things down, or use sticky notes to mark important pages. You don't necessarily need comprehensive notes, although it depends on the way your teacher uses the book (or doesn't...I've had teachers that make you spend $50 on a book and never bother to actually teach to it). The point is just that you have to engage with the text in order to get anything out of it. If you only "read" it, you'll wind up staring into space and forgetting everything you learned. Instead, challenge yourself to think about what you're reading and consider what is important about it.

Sometimes, it also helps to give yourself a time frame. I make it my goal to finish a particular chapter or section from around 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Sometimes I meet it and sometimes I don't, but having that period set aside to read makes me try a little harder than if I just sat down with a book and told myself to read it. I also tried a thing where I calculated the amount of time it took me to read a full page of text and timed myself for each page. It got me to read faster and to focus a little better because I kept wanting to beat my time of 2 minutes per page. However, it seems to work on some books better than others, and there's no benefit to reading so fast that you obtain no information; that just makes you spend double the time going back and reading it again.

My last bit of wisdom (*snicker) is that chart-making is fun and helpful. Whether or not you actually use the chart later on, it's fun to make one and it helps you keep track of the information. I'm an archaeology major, so I have a whole chart about the Maya deities, what they did, and how they were represented in art. For biology, I made a chart of taxonomies and also for geological time scales. And for history, I have a timeline stretching back from 550 BCE to around 1300 CE. I've never taken a physics class, so I can't say how charts would help exactly, but I will say that they're a good tool; you're learning as you do it, engaging with the text, and organizing your information in a way that's accessible later, when the exams come.

Hope you enjoyed my rather long-winded rant. More importantly, I hope that was helpful!|||TextbookTime.com makes it easy to save money on college textbooks, used textbooks, cheap textbooks and digital textbooks you need. |||Well...good luck with that. I know it's difficult. I actually took some classes that looked really interesting and thought perhaps the textbooks would be as well (they were not).

Perhaps if you can take something from physics, say a theory, etc. and you put it in terms of something that interests you, this would help you to retain the information more easily. For example, when someone isn't good at math and/or fractions (but they love food), you use M%26amp;M's or other food to show them first-hand how to add, subtract, or make a problem into a fraction. I know it might be difficult to do this, especially in trying to fit something with whatever law, theory, method, etc. that you're trying to learn. Say if you're interested in weather, you could see how physics and weather coincide and again retain the knowledge more easily.

Another thing you could do is that if there's a certain area that you need to remember, you could make a slogan out of it, kind of like people who want to remember music scales use EGBDF: Elvis' guitar broke down Friday. I know that this is something that especially helped me in Geometry and Biology.

Hopefully, you'll find a way to enjoy your class and improve your grades.|||Picture the thing ur reading in real life, just change it a bit so it's more interesting to watch, I read about the civil war and I pictured people fighting with ketchup and mustard

How to recycle old textbooks in the Chicago area?

I've got huge college textbooks from ~10yrs ago. I hate to throw these into the trash. They're not really worth attempting to resell them. Anyone know where I can take them to get broken down? These are laboratory medicine-type books, so not worth donating either. Thanks!|||There are lots of online venues that make it easy to sell used textbooks, like Textbookbuyer.com. By typing in the ISBNs, you can quickly see the offering prices. If you're not interested in selling them at all, but simply want to get rid of them right away because they're taking up space, then maybe there is a recycling center in your area that might have a use for the books. I'm curious why you say they're not worth donating? Are the books really specialized? If nobody wants them, then maybe recycling is the best answer.|||I would suggest using GreenTextbooks.org

Is it legal to sell international edition textbooks in Ebay and Amazon?

Hi, everyone, I have an international editon textbooks and would like to re-sell it online either on eday or amazon. However, after I have done some book searches, I didn't find any post selling international edition textbooks anymore? Have it become illegal or these websites try to discourage this kind of sale?|||The truth is that it is illegal to purchase international books and bring them to the US to sell. The publishers would argue that you are advertising a false product when you list the book for sale as the ISBN of the US edition is different than the International one.

In a recent survey done by Campusbooks.com, a textbook price comparison engine, they noted that over 75% of responding students do not have interest in International editions.

This doesn't mean you can't sell it, it just means you should be up front and honest that it is an international edition. If you clearly state it in your description then the site you are selling through will post it if they want.

eBay and Amazon have deals with the publishers so they crack down on international copies. You can try Valorebooks.com or AbeBooks.com, you might have better luck.|||I would suggest GreenTextbooks.org

As Ebay and Amazon.com targeted to US customers, if you sell your book in those website, there are high chances that the book would be bought by US customers (even though your international shipping option is on).

If you really want to sell your international edition books on those website, I suggest you to add a comment saying that you will not ship the book to US or Canada avoid ambiguity.
