How much of my college textbooks should I read early?

Like I start college in one week and everyone is like you need to start reading and studying your textbooks now but how much?How much of my college textbooks should I read early?
You don't need to study your books ahead of time, but it does help. However, make sure you look at the syllabus before you start reading. Some professors tell you on the first day "WHOOPS! you guys don't even need a textbook for this class." This has happened to me.

the more u do now the more time u will have for partying in the first few weeks!!!!! now theres an incentive! lol
