How to find out if new edition textbooks are due out?

Is there a website of something that alerts students that a new edition for a textbook is pending? This way I can know NOT to buy the old edition! It's bad enough that $500+ is spent on textbooks a term and it's even worse that a loss is made of less than 50% when you sell them..but there's nothing worse than finding out that there's a new edition out and no-one's buying the old one.
