How much did you spend on college textbooks per semester?

I spent about $165 for my textbooks. These are for science/math/engineering classes. Is that a lot compared to what you had to pay?How much did you spend on college textbooks per semester?
Nope that sounds about right....maybe even a little cheaper! I never spent more than about $200, but I never bought new books and checked out what I could from the library (a good trick!).

I'm in the Au$170 to 220 range. This is normal. It's pricey but compared to law students, this price is peanuts. How much did you spend on college textbooks per semester?
actually, it's not that much. I used to pay around $350 for books in community college. just a math book would go for $85. then, I transfered to university of phoenix where I paid $70 per book and $1450 for each class (3 units each class). yikes!!!!!!
Last year...between $250-550 each semester. This year...I haven't bought my books so I'm not really sure. I did get an e-mail from a professor telling the class that we need three books AND a lab manual.....argggh...I'm thinking it's going to be a lot! :(
I spent about $650 last semester and this semester i spent $ $175.

I t goes by two things..

What books you need and what books you want.

First Semester was need, and this semester was want...not wanting to spend a lot. so i didn't buy all the books.
Wow.. what side of the world do YOU live on? 165 for ALL your books? Man, I'm jealous..

As a science major, I average about 500-600 dollars on books PER Semester. The reason for that is, If I'm taking 3 science classes, they have giant textbooks (used are usually still over 100 Dollars) PLUS a 75-80 dollar lab book. That alone, takes a lot of money.

I've sold back most of my books after the semester, but still... to chalk up 500 dollars on top of tuitions... it's pretty rough...

I wanna know where all the answer-ers LIVE, because you guys have it Nice!!!
How much you spend for text books depends on the number of courses you are enrolled in and the requirement of each course. The average text can cost between $90 and $140 and some courses require that you have 2, 3, and 4 books to complete the course. Buying used books is certainly a way to mitigate this circumstance. The cost of a book is not determined so much by content, although some ego maniacs would argue differently, but by the limited number of books that are printed. Material contained in texts becomes outdated quickly which adds to the cost of keeping the material current.

A range of cost for textbooks per semester is $500 - $600, and when it is less than that, be aware that some semesters you will be paying more. It will average out.

If it is a real hardship, talk to your professor. He/she usually has a few tricks up his/her sleeve and the good ones will get you through.
thats the tip of the iceberg. im spending 500 this semester.
Wow, just my 2 books for this semester as an engineering grad student were a bit over $100 total -- mostly one book that was even a used one, too. I know my undergrad (engineering then, too) totals were a lot worse than that, and that was all 3-4+ years ago.
That sounds cheap. Some books cost that much.
