Contact their bookstore and ask them for the title of the text for a certain class. If you live near there you could go look and write down the ISBN numbers on the back of the textbook(s) and they buy them at half.com.How can I find out what textbooks Parson's School of Design uses?

I am looking at purchasing textbooks for my BCIS program and many of them i can obtain inexpensively but they may not come with the accompaning CD's .

Wolud that be extremely important? How important are CD's accompaning Textbooks when purchasing books for course material?
It depends. Some CDs are useless and are one way that publishers use to get more money out of consumers. Since you are asking about textbooks, the best way to find out is to ask your instructors. How important are CD's accompaning Textbooks when purchasing books for course material?
well mine came with two, one for the text book which i dont use and one that comes with the course material that i did find useful. For me i didn't need the cd that came with the text because i had the course cd but this could be different for you and where you are studying. too make sure you should email your lecture for the courses and ask them they will know the answer

Are there any ways to download free college/university textbooks?

Some of the textbooks I need are: Marketing Plan Handbook by Wood, Consumer Behaviour by Solomon, Business Communication Now by Locker. I was wondering if there was a website where I can download free versions of textbooks, maybe in PDF files. Are there any ways to download free college/university textbooks?
Probably, but they are also probably illegal. If you have something like a Kindle you might consider checking to see if the Kindle versions would be cheaper than the paper versions. If not, look into renting your textbooks instead of buying them outright, or look for cheap used versions on places like the Amazon.com marketplace or Half.com.
the most success I've gotten in terms of finding free material in textbooks is googling a phrase from a book and putting quotations around it so you search for the exact phrase. Sometimes a website will have either large sections of the book available to look at, and once or twice I found a pdf.

The only other option is looking into something such as the amazon textbook rental program. You can rent pdf's of books (even if you don't have an e-reader) for a much lower cost than buying it. Just something to consider. Are there any ways to download free college/university textbooks?
Check the website of your university library in case they're available there. In my uni (in Australia) the university library has some book chapters in PDF. These PDF chapters are required reading in the uni courses.

I don't think book publishers upload their books in the internet for free access. The 'free textbooks' may be illegal. Are there any ways to download free college/university textbooks?
Unfortunately I doubt you'll find the PDF file, or at least if you did I wouldn't trust downloading it..

I suggest chegg.com. You can rent books from there and it tells you how much you save buying from them at the end, which is always fun. I bought my books from there all rented for this fall semester and spent 144 dollars, and I saved over 300 bucks .
There are usually electronic versions of textbooks but they are not free. Unless you download them illegally, they won't be free.
I also agree you use chegg. I recomend it to every one i meet going to college it is awsome!
WOW, I have never thought about that...

  • Where can I find solutions or solution manuals to textbooks?

    Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone knows a place online where I can get solutions or solution manuals to textbooks. I have a few textbooks here (calculus, business statistics) that I would like to review, so I need the solutions manual to do it effectively. How can I acquire these solutions after my session with the class is finished? I remember I had access to these solutions through my Uni's website but I don't have access to them anymore.

Any ideas? ThanksWhere can I find solutions or solution manuals to textbooks?
Most publishers don't make these available to students, to prevent cheating, so only the professors can buy them (they usually have to get permission from their department chairs or be registered with the publishers to get them). If you just want them for review purposes, contact the professor (or, if the professor is no longer there, the department chair) that you took the class from and explain to them why you want this. It may not be possible if you are still a student, because they may be afraid that you will give the answers to current students.Where can I find solutions or solution manuals to textbooks?

How do you figure out what textbooks you need for your college classes?

I'm trying to figure out what textbooks I need for my Spring 09 semester classes at Western Michigan University. How do you figure out what textbooks you need for your college classes?
Western Michigan. Good school. When I was shopping for books, I simply went to the college bookstore with my list of courses and looked up my particular course number. Any books associated with your course number - say ENG 204 - will be on the shelves marked with that identifier. If Western Michigan doesn't do it that way - then follow the advice of the other folks who talked about waiting on the syllabus.

    Good luck.
Go to the bookstore and tell them what class your taking and they get the books for you. Or you can wait for the first day of class when they tell you what book(s) you need. How do you figure out what textbooks you need for your college classes?
Required text's will be on the syllibus provided by the professor. Don't worry, you will be given all information necessary to be sucessful in each course !!How do you figure out what textbooks you need for your college classes?
    ask your teacher!

Place to find a large quantity of cheap textbooks?

I am looking to start a small business that will help raise funds for animal shelters in my area (my New Year's Resolution). I have sold my textbooks, and now I am looking for a source of additional textbooks so I can continue this and continue to donate money to my local animal shelter (which they desperately need!). Any hints? Websites? Advertising that works?Place to find a large quantity of cheap textbooks?
The most effective way is to engage the help of your friends to perform house to house collection.

Most if not all, won't take the trouble to send to you.Place to find a large quantity of cheap textbooks?
I would put up flyer's on the bulletin boards of colleges, Jr. Colleges, and local hangouts of students. If there is a "free" local paper or magazine, you could put an ad in there too. Lot's of people would like to get rid of those old books gathering dust on their shelves. You might try flea markets, too. Good luck.
